"Relevance is not telling people what they want to hear, its telling people what they need to hear."- Kevin Deyoung (via revelation19)
"Our world is being shaken to its very foundations. Instead of offering great thoughts about God, the meaning of reality, and the gospel, there are evangelical churches that are offering only little therapeutic nostrums that are sweet but mostly worthless. One even wonders whether some current churchgoers might even be resistant were they to encounter a Christianity that is deep, costly, and demanding."-

Exactly. Agreed in every way.
Remember how you treat outsiders who visit your church. One bad experience can ruin a persons entire outlook.
John 2:13 The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 And He found in the temple those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables. 15 And He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; 16 and to those who were selling the doves He said, “Take these things away; stop making My Father’s house a place of business.” (NASB)
Too often have churches been plagued by the transformation of a house of God into a house of business. Sadly, these Churchs/Church Groups would rather use the church as a hub of commerce than as a hub of community support and fellowship. These same Churches would rather use the Church to raise money to support trips to concerts, movies, and amusement parks than to raise money for those in need within the community or for other forms of charity. As a follower of Christ it is truly troubling to see what the modern church is becoming and how some churches focus more on the attraction of their church experience rather than the service of true salvation. It is time we stop making the Father’s house a place of business and we, as mirrors of the perfect Christ, take up the whip and demand the purification of the Church.
1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
There are many reasons some people do not understand Christianity. Some simply do not wish to, while others maintain that they do not need God in their life and some are unwilling to open their eyes and truly search the message of Christ with their heart. While these good explanations o why people do not understand, Jesus gives us the greatest explanation, they do not understand because they have not yet become acquainted the Christ, the Shepherd and they do not yet know him. Followers of Christ will remain followers because their truly know The Shepherd and follow Him rather than the voices of strangers.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Christ’s deity is also revealed later in John 10:30 when he says
30 I and my Father are one.
Today I was genuinely happy to be given two old family Bibles.
